Ed Sheeran To Join Team Christina On The Voice
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, the Brit who’s written hits for Taylor Swift and One Direction, will appear on the upcoming season of The Voice as an advisor to Christina Aguilera’s team. Sheeran will appear during the Battle Rounds of season 5, slated to air in mid-October. Aguilera, after taking a hiatus from the show last season to promote her album, returns alongside fellow coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee-Lo Green.
Kanye Turned Down Judging Spot On Idol
We’re being told that J Lo will announce her Idol return this week. So, who will join her on the panel? Keith Urban is the lone holdover from last season. And, Dr. Luke just announced he’ll be on the panel. But a major hip-hop star was offered Luke’s gig before he accepted.
A source told Us Weekly that the Louis Vuitton Don was offered the third and last spot to judge on Idol this upcoming season.Why? He thought it would hurt his rep.
“He didn’t want to go that mainstream,” says the source. “He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.”
The source also revealed that Idol producers met with 3 other contenders for the gig: Will.i.am, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. In the end, though, Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald) accepted the gig.
